Esso was here

Epoxy Resin, pigment, acrylic, wood.102 x 31 x 3.5 cm. Esso was here is an anachronism that pictures the logo of an oil company as it might be in the Middle Ages. It pictures oil as a medieval fuel and questions its future. The Gothic letter dates back to the black letter font, one of the first in history, and used in the 15th century in the Gutenberg Bible, the first book to be printed. Today, it is the visual characteristic of the heavy metal that uses it, and evokes Satan rather than God.
