Cristal Jackpot

Epoxy resin, scratch cards.18 x 15 x 3.5 cm. Cristal jackpot is a collection of unrevealed scratch cards trapped in resin blocks. It is impossible to extract the cards from the resin to discover their real value, which is frustrating to the viewer, because even if the probability of winning is infinitesimal, the doubt is there. This is the gaming industry’s mechanism at work. Once detachment sets in, the hope of becoming a millionaire is forgotten. As in Schrödinger’s cat experiment, when the real value is not known, several possibilities coexist, questioning our relationship to reality and to concepts such as coincidence, chance, and destiny. This scratch card refers to a certain amount of uncertainty when it comes to defining the value of a work of art.
